Release of the Hawksbill Sea Turtle at Gili Air

It was time for their release. After being at Oceans 5 for 8 months these Hawksbill sea turtles were ready to return to their home, The Ocean.

The people who were taking care of them, Nun, Uding and Bahry, helped to get the turtles to the beach. There they were released! Some of them were shy and didnt know what to do with their freedom, other enjoyed the first minute and run into the ocean as it was not new for them.

A new adventure has started for them, they have to swimm and catch their own food. Hopefully we see them in the future underwater! Enjoy your stay turtles, see you soon.

New visitor at Oceans 5 dive resort

A day ago Blue marlin trawangan brought a big hawksbill turtle to Oceans 5 dive resort.

The turtle was floating on one of the most famous dive sites of the Gili Islands: Sharkpoint. This turtle couldnt go down, and wouldnt survive if Blue Marlin Trawangan didnt picked it up out of the water.

When the turtle can to Oceans 5 dive resort it has got some medicine, new sea water and food. Its still floating around but eating and swimming.

Hopefully it will recover and will swimm in the blue again.

New guests at Oceans 5

A few day ago a fishermen arrived in the early morning at Oceans 5 with a few plastic buckets. He asked us if we could do something for the little turtels he bought.

We were surpised what we saw. In the plastic buckets were around a`100 baby turtles, just born, and very small. He told us if we didnt do anything that these turtles are going to the fish market in Lombok.

Oceans 5 bought the turtles but told the fishermen that this was the only and last time that we pay for turtles.

Nun, one of staff members and an expert in turtles caring, will take care of the 100 little baby ones. We will observe them carefully, and monitor their growth.

At this moment we are building for the turtles a new houses, so that the can grow up stress free.
